Class IV Laser Therapy
Getting you back to the activities you love!
Get lingering pain and slow-healing tissue to finally respond, using Class IV Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate a biological response in painful, inflamed, or slow-to-recover tissue. At ChiroMovement, we combine laser with one-on-one rehabilitation to help active adults — and competitive athletes who can’t afford weeks off — reduce pain, calm inflammation, and get back to what they care about.
When the usual advice hasn't fixed anything
Rest. Ice. An over-the-counter anti-inflammatory. A stretching routine you found online. Most of the athletes who come to us have already run through that list — and it worked, sort of. For a day, maybe two. Then they get back under the bar, back on shift, back into a normal week, and the same ache shows up right on schedule.
That pattern usually means the problem was never “not enough rest.” Inflammation that keeps returning and tissue that’s slow to remodel is a sign the tissue needs a different kind of input — not just less use, but the right stimulus to actually change how it heals.
Red light therapy feels like the inflammation is gently warmed without pain or discomfort. Afterwards there is a noticeable relief in pain! Definetly one of my favorites.
What is laser therapy?
Low-level laser therapy — photobiomodulation, or Class IV laser therapy at the power we treat with — uses a specific band of light to reach tissue that hands-on work and adjustments can’t get to directly: deep tendon, inflamed joint capsule, irritated nerve root. Nothing is cut, injected, or heated to the point of damage. Most patients feel a mild, comfortable warmth and nothing else.
We treat with a LightForce 25W Class IV unit, dual wavelength (810 & 980 nm), dosed by tissue depth and condition rather than run on one fixed setting.
Results depend on the condition, the dose, and the person — this isn’t a cure-all, and any clinic that promises one is overselling it. What the evidence supports is a real, dose-dependent effect on pain and inflammation, strong enough that we use it as a standard part of care for the right cases — not as an upsell.

Why has the pain not gone away?
Chronic pain isn’t always about damage that just needs more time. Tissue that stays inflamed, under-recovered, or metabolically “stuck” can hurt long after a normal injury should have healed — and generic rest doesn’t do much to change a cell’s energy state. Laser therapy targets that stuck state directly, at the level of the cell, rather than just waiting it out.
How laser therapy may help
The mechanism is called photobiomodulation — light energy absorbed by the cell, not the tissue burning or heating up.
Light is absorbed
Red/near-infrared light penetrates the skin and is absorbed by mitochondria — the cell's energy factories.
ATP production rises
Mitochondria produce more ATP, the fuel cells use to repair and function — cellular metabolism speeds up.
Inflammation drops
Oxidative stress and inflammatory signaling decrease as cells have more energy to do repair work properly.
Blood flow improves
Nitric oxide release widens blood vessels, bringing more oxygen and nutrients to the injured tissue.
How we use shockwave differently
Laser is part of the plan — not the entire plan
Laser is rarely the whole visit. It’s layered into the same appointment as your adjustment, soft tissue work, or rehab exercise — used to help create a better opportunity for recovery, then reinforced with an individualized plan so the tissue can actually handle load again. We use it to influence the painful tissue; rehab teaches that tissue, and the rest of your body, to hold up under real life.
What treatment looks like
We evaluate the problem
A real exam, not a five-minute look — we find out what's actually driving your pain.
We determine whether laser fits
Not every case is a laser case. We'll tell you honestly if something else is the better first move.
We apply treatment to the targeted area
5–10 minutes per area, dosed to tissue depth and condition. No downtime.
We build the area back up
Laser calms the tissue down; rehab work builds it back up so the problem doesn't just return.
We reassess what matters
Pain, function, and capacity — not just "does it feel better today."
Is this you?
- You're training for something — a meet, a season, a next PR — and can't afford weeks off for an elbow, knee, or shoulder that's flaring up mid block.
- You've got knee, hand, or hip arthritis and you'd rather try a non-surgical, non-drug option before anything more invasive.
- You've had the same tendon or joint bother you for months, and rest alone hasn't changed it.
- You want laser paired with an actual rehab plan — not a stand-alone gadget you lie under for ten minutes and go home.
Why ChiroMovement
One-on-one care
You see Dr. Bird, not a rotating tech — every visit, every dosing call.
More than temporary relief
Laser quiets the tissue down; the rehab plan is what keeps it from creeping back.
Built for active adults
From competitive strength athletes to anyone who just wants to move without surgery on the table.
Honest recommendations
If laser isn’t the right call for your case, we’ll tell you before we ever schedule it.
A plan you can understand
You’ll know exactly why laser is — or isn’t — part of your care, not just told to trust the process.
Reviews
Does laser therapy hurt?
No. Most patients feel a mild, comfortable warmth over the treatment area and nothing else.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the condition and how long it’s been going on. We’ll give you a real estimate after your evaluation, not a generic package.
Is laser therapy safe to combine with adjustments or rehab exercise?
Yes — it’s typically layered into the same visit as your adjustment or soft tissue work, not done as a stand-alone appointment.
Is there any downtime?
None. You can train, work, or go about your day immediately after a session.
Who shouldn’t get laser therapy?
It’s generally avoided over active cancer, directly over a pregnant abdomen, and over the thyroid or eyes. We’ll screen for this at your evaluation.
Is it covered through my insurance?
Class IV Laser Therapy is not a covered service through most insurance companies. We provide this valuable treatment at a competitive cash rate. For those on self pay it is included within the normal cost of the visit.
You don't have to keep working around this pain.
