Chiropractic Adjustment & Joint Manipulation

Helping you to move and back to life!

Restore Movement. Reduce Pain. Keep You Doing What You Love.

Athlete Adjustment

When a joint isn’t moving well, everything around it has to compensate. Muscles become tight, movement becomes restricted, and simple activities can start to feel uncomfortable.

At ChiroMovement, chiropractic adjustments are one of the many tools we use to help restore normal joint motion, reduce pain, and improve how your body moves. They’re never the entire treatment plan—they’re one piece of a comprehensive approach designed to help you recover and stay active.

Whether you’re dealing with low back pain, neck stiffness, headaches, shoulder pain, or a sports injury, our goal isn’t simply to “crack your back.” Our goal is to help you move better, build resilience, and return to the activities you enjoy.

When the usual advice hasn't fixed anything

Rest. Ice. An over-the-counter anti-inflammatory. A stretching routine you found online. Most of the athletes who come to us have already run through that list — and it worked, sort of. For a day, maybe two. Then they get back under the bar, back on shift, back into a normal week, and the same ache shows up right on schedule.

That pattern usually means the problem was never “not enough rest.” Inflammation that keeps returning and tissue that’s slow to remodel is a sign the tissue needs a different kind of input — not just less use, but the right stimulus to actually change how it heals.

Red light therapy feels like the inflammation is gently warmed without pain or discomfort. Afterwards there is a noticeable relief  in pain! Definetly one of my favorites.

What Is a Chiropractic Adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment, also called joint manipulation, is a precise, controlled movement applied to a joint that has become restricted or isn’t moving as well as it should.

When performed by a trained chiropractor, adjustments can help:

  • Reduce joint pain
  • Improve mobility and range of motion
  • Decrease muscle guarding
  • Improve movement quality
  • Make exercise and rehabilitation more comfortable

Many people notice immediate improvements in movement after an adjustment, but the greatest long-term benefit comes when it’s combined with strengthening, mobility work, and progressive rehabilitation.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first visit is about more than just relieving pain—it's about understanding why you're hurting and creating a plan to help you recover.

1

We Listen to Your Story

Every appointment begins with a detailed conversation about your health and your goals. We'll discuss:

  • When your symptoms started
  • How your injury or condition has changed over time
  • What makes it better or worse
  • Previous injuries or surgeries
  • Treatments you've already tried
  • The activities you want to get back to

Understanding your history helps us identify the factors contributing to your pain rather than simply treating the symptoms.

2

A Thorough Evaluation

Next, we'll perform a comprehensive assessment tailored to your condition. This may include:

  • Movement and mobility testing
  • Joint and muscle assessment
  • Strength testing
  • Functional movement evaluation
  • Orthopedic and neurological testing when appropriate

Our goal is to determine what's driving your pain and identify the best treatment approach for your specific needs.

3

Treatment Begins on Day One

In most cases, treatment starts during your very first visit.

Depending on your condition and what we find during the examination, your treatment may include chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, rehabilitation exercises, dry needling, shockwave therapy, laser therapy, or other hands-on treatments.

We believe you shouldn't have to wait to start feeling better.

4

Your Personalized Recovery Plan

Before you leave, you'll understand:

  • What we believe is causing your pain
  • Why it developed
  • Which treatments are most appropriate for your recovery
  • What you can do at home to help your progress
  • What to expect over the coming weeks

Our goal is not just to reduce your pain today, but to help you build the strength, mobility, and confidence to return to the activities you enjoy—and keep you there.

More Than Just an Adjustment

At ChiroMovement, an adjustment is rarely the entire visit.

Depending on your condition, your treatment may also include:

  • Movement assessment
  • Soft tissue therapy
  • Personalized rehabilitation exercises
  • Strength and mobility training
  • Dry needling
  • Shockwave therapy
  • Class IV laser therapy
  • Education on how to prevent the problem from returning

We choose the right combination of treatments based on your goals—not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Is an Adjustment Safe?

Yes. Chiropractic adjustments are considered very safe when performed by a licensed chiropractor after a thorough examination.

Before recommending any treatment, we complete a detailed assessment to determine whether an adjustment is appropriate for you. If it’s not the best option, we’ll recommend another approach.

Your safety always comes first.

Joint manipulation may be beneficial for many musculoskeletal conditions, including:

  • Low back pain
  • Neck pain and stiffness
  • Headaches
  • Sciatica
  • Mid-back pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Hip pain
  • TMJ dysfunction
  • Pregnancy-related pelvic and back pain
  • Sports injuries
  • Certain elbow and wrist conditions

Every patient is different, which is why treatment recommendations are always individualized.

Our Philosophy

We don’t believe people need endless adjustments.

Our goal is to help you recover, restore confidence in your body, and build the strength and capacity needed to stay active long after your pain has improved.

Sometimes that includes an adjustment.

Sometimes it doesn’t.

The treatment should always match the problem—not the other way around.

What Treatment Looks Like

1

We check in first

A quick update on how you've felt since your last visit, what's improved, and what's still bothering you.

2

We reassess before we treat

A brief re-check of the area, so today's visit is based on how you're actually doing, not just repeating the same routine.

3

We apply the adjustment

A precise, controlled movement to the joint that needs it — by hand or with a specific instrument, whichever fits your case.

4

We layer in supporting care

Soft tissue work, rehab exercise, or other tools added in the same visit when they'll help.

5

We track your progress

So your plan adjusts as you improve, instead of running the same visit on repeat indefinitely.

What makes ChiroMovement different?

Dr. Bird working with client.

Most clinics focus on making the pain quieter.

We focus on making you stronger.

Our goal isn’t simply to reduce pain today.

It’s to help you build the capacity to stay active months and years from now.

That means your treatment plan may include chiropractic care, rehabilitation, shockwave therapy, dry needling, laser therapy, or strength training—whatever best matches your goals and your condition.

I have been working towards and feel closer to being able to go on a hike before the summer is over. But I think it would have been a lot different if I had not done your program. I would not have been strong enough. I'm getting back to where I was in my earlier phase, perhaps before the atrophy. I value the progress and knowledge of how to get that back! Thank you for all you did to help me in my progress!

Excellent care. When I first started, I had a lot of pain in one of my delts that was preventing me from being able to bench properly. Dr. Bird was able to identify the issue and over the course of several weeks was able to help minimalize the pain.

Frequently asked questions

Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?

Most patients feel little to no discomfort — often just pressure or a brief stretch. Any soreness afterward is usually mild and similar to what you'd feel after a light workout.

What causes the popping or cracking sound?

That's gas bubbles releasing from the fluid inside the joint as it moves through its range of motion — the same thing that happens when you crack your knuckles. It's not a bone moving out of place or back into place.

Is chiropractic adjustment safe?

Yes, for the vast majority of patients. We screen for conditions where adjustment isn't appropriate — such as certain fractures, severe osteoporosis, or specific spinal instabilities — during your evaluation before any treatment begins.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on the condition, how long it's been going on, and how your body responds. We'll give you a real estimate after your first evaluation — not a generic package.

Do I need a referral to be seen?

No. You can schedule directly with us — no physician referral required.

Can I get adjusted while pregnant, or if I have arthritis?

Often, yes — many techniques can be modified for pregnancy or joint conditions like arthritis. We'll tailor the approach to what's appropriate for you during your evaluation.

Do you take insurance?

We're contracted with a number of insurance plans and can check your benefits for you. That said, we'd rather start with your evaluation and confirm we're actually the right fit to help your condition — the insurance and cost conversation is easy once we know that.
